Female Unicorns Series: Lek Chailert

Udah lama banget gak update seri โ€œFemale Unicornsโ€ ini.

Pertama kali saya mendengar nama Lek Chailert adalah ketika saya mengikuti konferensi AWE (Asianโ€™s Women Empowerment) di tahun 2013.

Read More »

Female Unicorns Series: Jacqueline Wilson

Read More »

Female Unicorns Series: Elizabeth Gilbert

Eat, Pray, Love. That was how I first got hooked by Elizabeth Gilbert’s writing.

Even though the book was quite a controversy, I still loved reading it. Some people agreed with her, and some criticized the way she handled her problem. However, I see it this way: this woman was on her way to depression. She did what she had to do to save herself, and I salute her for that. I admire the way she loves herself to do her “pilgrimage” – if I was in her situation, I’m not sure I would’ve handled it the same way.Read More »

Female Unicorns Series: Ada Lovelace

I have picked this special lady to be my first “Female Unicorn” as she is known to be the first programmer.

I myself have been studying computer science since I finished high school. When I first told everyone I wanted to study this field, a lot of people told me that this was a “boy’s world”. I was confused, why is it called a boy’s world?!

As it turned out there were really not many girls, but weirdly enough the best students were the girls. I was proud, I am still proud, of this fact!Read More »

Female Unicorns

I thought I’d make a new category called “Female Unicorns” where I highlight some awesome females. They may be my friends, women I know with inspiring stories or even famous ones.

I think you will agree with me when I say that there have been many news about how underappreciated females are.

There are too many stories of women being raped, underpaid in the working sectors, having limited choices in life just because of our gender. Well, I hope this category can create an understanding that we can be strong and we can empower each other!

I believe each one of us can become what I call a “female unicorn”. Hope you will like this section of my blog (and I promise that I’ll try to post consistently).
